Hello! I’m Clare — an experienced language teacher offering 1:1 tutoring in Spanish, French and Portuguese to students in the Abingdon area. Whether you’re looking for help preparing for exams, building confidence, or simply loving language learning again, I’d love to help.

Who I work with

I support students at all levels, including:

• KS3 and GCSE (Year 7–11)
• A-Level students (Year 12–13)
• Home-educated learners
• Adult learners re-engaging with languages

I tailor each session to your needs — whether that’s:

• Building confidence in speaking and listening
• Mastering grammar and writing skills
• Preparing for GCSE or A-Level exams
• Getting on top of homework or class content
• Developing strong study habits and revision strategies

First session is free

I offer a free 1-hour introductory session so we can meet, chat through your goals, and see if we’re a good fit. No pressure! Just a chance to explore how I can support your learning.

My teaching background

In the past 6 years, I have been a Head of Spanish and Lead Practitioner in a leading comprehensive school. I have mentored training teachers, coached experienced teachers and supported curriculum development on a consultancy basis. I graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese in 2016.

I bring a practical, friendly approach to tutoring — and students I work with consistently make outstanding progress. Feedback from parents, students, and colleagues regularly highlights my ability to build confidence, adapt to individual needs, and bring language learning to life.

Rates

Year 7 – 11: £50 per hour

Years 12 and 13: £75 per hour
